In 2010, a stranger suggested I watch, “Forks Over Knives”, a documentary about the powerful medicine of plant-based foods. Using this knowledge, I was able to reverse my own serious health problems (chronic asthma, GI distress, acid reflux, endless colds, and seasonal allergies), which had plagued me for several years – despite a seemingly “healthy” diet. I gained energy, lost weight, felt better, and – most amazingly – cured my asthma! Further research led me to T. Colin Campbell, a leader in the field of nutrition research. Inspired by his work and fueled by my own transformation, I earned a certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition through eCornell and the T. Colin Campbell Foundation.
It was the start of a new chapter in my life. By adopting a “food as thy medicine” approach, my life had changed – and dramatically! As my physical health continued to improve, I sensed a need to address other areas of my life: to cultivate deeper relationships, address chronic stress, find ways of exercising that felt right to me and, in short, to re-evaluate my entire life. I began to practice yoga again, experiment with meditation and breathing exercises, and continue to invest in a new career.
I am now a passionate board certified Holistic Health Coach and a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City. I founded Gratitude Wellness, my signature coaching program, and began seeing clients in January 2013, both in-person and virtually. I live in (and love!) Baltimore, MD with my husband, Eddie. I love to practice yoga, travel, and – these days – cook! I am currently studying to become a Certified Culinary Nutrition Expert.
